RKO is a human colorectal carcinoma cell line widely used as a model for colorectal cancer research. These adherent epithelial cells exhibit stable growth, a near-diploid karyotype, and intact DNA mismatch repair pathways, making them suitable for studies of tumor biology, DNA damage response, apoptosis, and drug screening. RKO cells are frequently employed in mechanistic cancer research, high-throughput compound testing, and studies of signaling pathways relevant to colorectal tumor progression.
The cells should be handled at laboratory containment level 1.
