The WEHI-3B cell line is a murine myelomonocytic leukemia cell line established from BALB/c mice. It is widely used in hematopoietic research to study myeloid leukemia, cytokine signaling, cell proliferation, and differentiation. One of the distinguishing features of WEHI-3B cells is their ability to constitutively secrete interleukin-3 (IL-3) into the culture medium.
Conditioned medium collected from WEHI-3B cultures serves as a convenient and cost-effective source of biologically active IL-3 and has been extensively used to support the growth and maintenance of IL-3-dependent cell lines, including Ba/F3, 32D, FDC-P1, and other murine hematopoietic progenitor cells. The conditioned medium can replace or supplement recombinant IL-3 in routine cell culture applications.
The cells should be handled at laboratory containment level 1.
