The Signosis IRE RNA EMSA Kit provides a complete, non-radioactive system for detecting and analyzing IRE–protein interactions using biotin-labeled RNA probes and native gel electrophoresis.

Iron-Responsive Elements (IREs) are conserved stem-loop structures found in the untranslated regions of mRNAs involved in iron metabolism (e.g., ferritin, transferrin receptor). IREs specifically bind Iron Regulatory Proteins (IRP1 and IRP2), regulating mRNA stability and translation in response to intracellular iron levels.

Upon binding, RNA–protein complexes exhibit slower migration compared to free RNA and can be visualized by electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). The kit includes biotin-labeled IRE RNA probes, optimized binding buffer, and detection reagents, allowing sensitive and specific analysis of IRP–IRE interactions in nuclear or cytoplasmic extracts.
