Early growth response (EGR) is a transcription factor that regulates gene expression in response to a variety of extracellular signals, particularly those related to cellular stress, growth factors, and differentiation. The EGR luciferase reporter vector is designed to study the transcriptional activity of EGR. The vector contains an EGR DNA consensus binding site and TA minimal promoter upstream of a firefly luciferase reporter gene, which can specifically report EGR activity while maintaining a low basal level of transcription. It also contains the Renilla Luciferase under the CMV promoter for data normalization.
