EMSA Assay Kits

Principle
When a transcription factor (TF) is activated, it binds to a biotin-labeled probe designed based on its consensus binding sequence. This TF/probe complex, when run through electrophoresis, migrates slower than the free probe, resulting in a distinguishable shifted band. By comparing the density of these shifted bands across different samples, variations in TF activation levels can be easily determined.

SAMPLE TYPE
requires nuclear extract as the starting material, which can either be purchased with the kit or separately. The nuclear extract, catalog number SK-0001, is suitable for both mammalian tissue and cultured cells.
