MMP9, or Matrix metalloproteinase-9, is a matrixin that functions by breaking down components of the extracellular matrix, a process involved in normal physiological functions like tissue remodeling and embryonic development. However, it is also implicated in disease processes, including cancer metastasis and inflammation. The MMP9 Promoter luciferase reporter vector is designed for studying the regulation of MMP9. The vector contains the MMP9 promoter region upstream of a firefly luciferase reporter gene, which can specifically report activity for MMP9 activity.
