Myc is a family of regulator genes that code for transcription factors which regulate the expression of a wide variety of target genes involved in cell cycle regulation, growth, metabolism, apoptosis, and differentiation. The Myc luciferase reporter vector is designed to study the transcriptional activity of Myc. The vector contains a Myc DNA consensus binding site and TA minimal promoter upstream of a firefly luciferase reporter gene, which can specifically report Myc activity while maintaining a low basal level of transcription.
The inclusion of a neomycin resistance gene in the vector allows it to be used for stable cell line selection. In addition, the vector also has a GFP-tag which can be used to monitor transfection efficiency. A map of the vector can be found in the product's image gallery.
