The retinoid X receptor (RXR) is a nuclear receptor that plays a key role in regulating gene expression in response to retinoids and other lipid-soluble signaling molecules. The RXR luciferase reporter vector is designed to study the transcriptional activity of this receptor. The vector contains an RXR DNA consensus binding site and TA minimal promoter upstream of a firefly luciferase reporter gene, which can specifically report RXR activity while maintaining a low basal level of transcription.
The inclusion of a neomycin resistance gene in the vector allows it to be used for stable cell line selection. In addition, the vector also has a GFP-tag which can be used to monitor transfection efficiency. A map of the vector can be found in the product's image gallery.
