Biological function
AUF1 is an AU rich RNA-binding protein involved in both stabilization and destabilization of diverse transcripts, including inflammatory and cell-cycle–related mRNAs. Different isoforms can have distinct regulatory effects.
 
Binding property
AUF1 binds AU rich / U rich elements within 3′UTRs, often overlapping with HuR and TTP targets. Binding outcome can be mRNA decay or stabilization depending on isoform and co-factors.
 
Assay notes
Uses an AU rich RNA probe that supports robust AUF1 binding. Can be combined with HuR and TTP assays to dissect ARE-binding “code” in different biological conditions.
