SRSF1 is a prototypical SR protein that acts as a splicing enhancer factor and also influences mRNA export and translation. It is frequently overexpressed in cancer.
 
Binding property
SRSF1 recognizes purine-rich exonic splicing enhancers, often GGAG / GGA-rich motifs within exons. Binding typically promotes exon inclusion.
 
Assay notes
Uses a biotin-labeled GA-rich RNA probe. Useful for assessing SR protein splicing activity and screening modulators of alternative splicing.
