Biological function
Staufen family proteins regulate mRNA localization, translation, and decay, often by binding double-stranded or structured regions within 3′UTRs.
Binding property
Staufen recognizes double-stranded/structured RNA elements, frequently in 3′UTRs, rather than a single short linear motif. Binding can trigger Staufen-mediated mRNA decay or control localization.
Assay notes
Includes a structured dsRNA/3′UTR element as probe. Useful for studying RNA localization pathways and structure-dependent decay.
