Adipokines are the secretory cytokines released by the adipose tissue. They are known to have pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Dysregulation of adipokine secretion or production, as a result of adipose tissue dysfunction, can lead to obesity-related diseases. Additionally, adipokines and their respective signalling pathways have been widely known to be associated with oncology and cancer therapeutics. To better understand and study the metabolic activity of adipokines, Signosis Inc has developed an Adipokine ELISA assay that tests for the presences of various obesity related adipokines including adiponectin, IL-8, MCP-1, IL-6, TNFα, Resistin, VEGF and Leptin.
