Obesity increases the risk for the metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and thrombosis. A number of proteins have been identified to be involved in the development of the obesity related metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. These include adiponectin, leptin, TNFα, IGF-1, Resistin, TGFβ, IL-6, and PAI-1. Plasma concentrations of these proteins are usually measured by ELISA. To systematically examine the effects, Signosis developed an ELISA strip, which allows simultaneous determination of 8 obesity cytokines. The difference of these proteins between two samples can be determined through data comparisons. Therefore, it facilitates the discovery of the change of these proteins in different samples.
